WILLIAM JAMES "FLIP" HUNGERFORDDecember 25, 1933 ~ August 10, 2017 (age 83)
William James “Flip” Hungerford of Hiller, Pa, went home to be with the Lord August 10, 2017, in Jefferson Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Born December 25, 1933 to the late Frank and Ida Bell Hungerford he worked for 33 years at Duquesne Works of U.S. Steel. A lifelong member of Mt. Zion Baptist church in Grindstone Flip served faithfully as a member of the trustee board. After retirement, he could be found cutting grass and talking, especially about cars. The calling that was laid upon Flip’s life was visiting the sick and shut in which he regularly did and greatly enjoyed.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers; Archie, Herbert, John Howard and Frank Hungerford and two sisters; Gertrude Reddix, and Frankie Bell Hungerford.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife; Joyce Ramsey Hungerford of Hiller, sons; William (Carla) Hungerford of Stafford, Va. and Terry Hungerford of Hiller and daughter; Cheryl Hungerford of Grindstone, Grandchildren; Shante (Reggie) Bureau, Nyika Hungerford and William (Michelle) Hungerford, Jr. all of Virginia, and three Great Grandchildren, six sisters; Mildred Forte, Cynthia Cherry and Henrietta Hungerford all of Columbus, Ohio, Sara Sanders and Victoria Pennington of Grindstone, and Georgette Frye of Brownsville, and one brother George Hungerford of Easton, Pa., mother-in-law; Marcine Ramsey of Whitsett, along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Friends will be received Tuesday August 15, 2017 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at Mt. Zion Baptist Church 803 Hillside Ave. Grindstone, and Wednesday, August 16, 2017 from 10:00 – 11:00 the hour of service.
