MADELINE KATE (LUCAS) McCOLLUM

November 13, 1940 ~ August 11, 2017 (age 76) 76 Years Old

 

Madeline Kate Lucas-McCollum quietly transitioned to her heavenly home on Saturday, August 11, 2017.  Born November 13, 1940 in Monessen, she was the daughter of the late Alvin E. Sr. and Madeline Lucas.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Agnes E. and Arby Wilcox; brothers and sisters-in-law; Alvin E. Jr. and Frances Lucas, William and Rebecca Lucas; nephews; Alvin E. Lucas III and Michael Lucas niece; Vicki E. Lucas-Black and husband; Davis McCollum.

 

Madeline graduated from Monessen High School.  After graduation she moved to Washington, D. C.  where she was employed by DACO Heating and Fuel Co. and Potomac Electric Company.   She later moved to Philadelphia, PA where she was employed at the National Board of Medical Examiners for 34 years until her retirement.    After the death of her husband, in 2002 she returned to Monessen to care for family members.  She was a faithful member of New Vision Christian Tabernacle in Donora, Pa, serving as the church secretary.

 

Left to cherish her memory, one brother and sister-in-law, Calvin (Vivian) Lucas of Capron, VA; aunt, Marguerite Rollins of Greensburg, PA; step-daughter, Andrea; step-great-grandson, Tre Taylor of Philadelphia, PA; God-daughter, Donna Davis of Glen Burnie, MD; spiritual sister and very close longtime friend, Minister Millie Thomas of Monessen; very close friend, Paula Bryant of Philadelphia, PA; a helpful friend, Belinda Milligan of Monessen, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.  During her illness, Madeline received tender love and care from her nieces, Yvonne Lucas of Maryland and Sharon Lucas of Arizona.

 

Visitation will be at the New Vision Christian Tabernacle, 221 Thompson Avenue in Donora from 10 AM – 12 PM on Friday, August 18, 2017 immediately followed by a Celebration of Life Service with Reverend Jesse Frost officiating.  Interment will take place at Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora, PA. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Beverly C. Draper Funeral Home, Inc.  608 6th Street, Monessen, PA 15062,
