Welcome to the memorial page for

HERBERT HURON LIPPINCOTT

December 2, 1934 ~ March 15, 2017 (age 82) 82 Years Old

On March 15, 2017, Herbert Huron Lippincott, 82, of Monessen, PA, placed “his hand” in that of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and humbly walked with Him up the staircase into the Heavenly Kingdom.  His wife Margaret, whom he affectionately called “Sis,” awaited his arrival…for the Lord gracefully guided her on the same staircase, exactly eight years prior, on                March 15, 2009.  Select Specialty Hospital at UPMC McKeesport, PA, is from where Herb began his journey into eternity.  Born December 2, 1934 in Monessen, PA, Herb was the son, and one of nine children, to the late Samuel Lippencott and Mary Jane (Phares) Lippencott.  During his childhood, his family relocated permanently to Belle Vernon, PA, and Herb and his siblings completed their schooling in the Belle Vernon Area School District.  Herb was a member and supporter of  “Embraced By His Love Ministries,” led by Minister Millie Thomas, and of the Union Baptist Church, Monessen, PA.  Herb served 21 years in the United States Air Force, serving in the Vietnam War and being stationed for many years at Lackland AFB - San Antonio, TX, The Air Force Academy -  Colorado Springs, CO,  Bitburg and Spangdahlem AFB - Germany, Europe, Misawa AFB – Misawa, Japan and Wright Patterson AFB - Dayton, OH.  After retiring as a Tech Sargent from the United States Air Force, Herb went on to work for Erie Insurance Co., United States Postal Service, United Parcel Service(UPS), Fayette Steel Co. and the Pipeliners Local Union 798 – Tulsa, OK.  After a second retirement, Herb never became idle.  His absolute love for cooking and baking, made him a true “connoisseur” of the culinary arts…and he did not hesitate to share his special dishes and recipes with everyone. All knew him well for his salmon croquettes, ham fried rice, boneless fried chicken, apple pie, lemon meringue pie and pumpkin supreme. He loved being out in the sun working in his yard, socializing with the neighbors and relaxing on his white bench.  Herb had a kind, caring heart…and his favorite pastimes were officiating baseball, watching sporting events, giving to numerous charities and taking care of his family!  A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle… he was always respectful, and demanded that those around him be respectful to others and all things.  A humble man of few words, but an intense listener and observer…Herb was very peaceful and thankful for how God had blessed him.  Over the last two years, Herb came to know his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, in a way that he never knew Him before.  In addition to his parents, Herb was preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, Margaret A. “Sister” Grogan-Lippincott, a son; Harry S. Lippincott, siblings; Edna P. Offutt, Betty L. Tidwell, Doretha J. Lippencott, Robert S. Stamper and Chauncey E. Lippencott.  He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted daughter; Mia J. Lippincott, his devoted son; Herbert E. (Denise) Lippincott, a granddaughter whom he helped to raise, Mia M. Lippincott and a young man he took under his wing, Jemhal “Jay” Jordan, siblings; Delores J. Brown, Elias (Bernice) Lippencott and Howard (Mae) Lippincott, sister-in-laws; Lenier G. Baird, Sharon Grogan, Teresa Grogan, and Catherine Lippencott, brother-in-law; James L. Hall, 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild whose arrival is waiting to be blessed, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, church family and friends.

Visitation will be 4pm to 8pm, Friday, March 24, 2017, and 12pm to 1pm, Saturday, March 25, 2017.  The Celebration of Life Service will begin at 1pm, Saturday, March 25th.  Visitation and service will be held at Union Baptist Church, 670 McMahon Avenue, Monessen, PA 15062, with Minister Millie Thomas officiating.  Interment will take place at Belle Vernon Cemetery, Belle Vernon, PA.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Beverly C.
